Wellbeing in Anti-Racism Practice  

A panel discussion on wellbeing for those working on anti-racism and decolonising practice. The session will highlight the findings from the recent Empire, Slavery & Scotland’s Museums Scottish Government recommendations, due out in May 2022. The session will focus on training needs in anti-racism in the sector going forward, how to ensure that our organisations are working towards being anti-racist and the particular support needs for all those working on anti-racism and decolonising practice.  


Speaker’s Bio

Sheila Asante, Project Manager: Empire, Slavery & Scotland's Museums, Museums Galleries Scotland 

Sheila Asante is the Project Manager for Empire, Slavery and Scotland’s Museums at Museums Galleries Scotland. Sheila has previously worked in local authority museums across Scotland and at the Scottish National Portrait Gallery, where she undertook a 2-year Migration Stories Fellowship. She is committed to museums uncovering Scotland’s shared history of colonialism and the trans-Atlantic trade in enslaved African people.
