Are you looking for opportunities for professional development? Would you like to upskill yourself, develop knowledge or generally improve your career prospects? Look no further, the Scottish Museums Federation is here to help!

We are looking for applications from members for our Professional Development Fund of awards of up to £125 per individuals or up to £250 for group applications.

The application deadline for 2023 is Sunday 16 July at 11:59pm.

What would help provide you with the learning you need to contribute to your professional development? Awards will be considered for any professional development activity including, but not limited to:

Attendance at a conference or seminar that interests you.
Research trips - an opportunity to conduct research at another institution or in the field.
Training of any sort - this could target development in your current role or be aimed at providing skills to bring you into or move you up the sector.
Museums you admire - go and see that museum or gallery you have always wanted to visit!
Exhibition Envy - have you seen a show advertised further afield you simply can't miss? The SMF can help you get there.

As part of your application please consider aspects of how the Fund will add value to your professional development.

The learning outcomes (skills/experience/knowledge) – informal or formal

Developing and expanding your professional network

Applications will be reviewed by the Scottish Museums Federation committee within 2 weeks of the deadline.

As part of this award, the successful applicant is expected to produce a summary of their activity and learning which will be made available to other Scottish Museums Federation members through our blog.

The successful applicant may also be invited to give a brief presentation at one of the Scottish Museums Federation’s events.
