Speaker’s Bio

Mike Benson, Managing Director, Scottish Crannog Centre 

Mike Benson is the Managing Director of the Scottish Crannog Centre. Mike has a strong background of having led struggling museums through transformations driven by a keen sense of social justice, resulting in thriving and healthy organisations. Mike has previously delivered this successful model at Bede’s World Anglo-Saxon Museum and Ryedale Folk Museum and has implemented it at the Scottish Crannog Centre over the past three years. Mike also as interim Director led a governance review at The National Coal Mining Museum For England. Previously to working in the museum sector Mike worked in the steelworks in Middlesbrough for 28 years.
