Why should I join?
As an independent body, encompassing a wide variety of views, we hope to influence, shape and inform the experience of those that contribute to the sector, as well as those that access and engage with our collections, knowledge or heritage.
Events and Networking - our events are a great way to meet colleagues from around Scotland as well as an excellent forum for knowledge sharing and gaining new insights into different areas of expertise.
We hold regular meetings in Spring and Autumn in museums around Scotland, giving members a very broad view of the museum sector and current issues. Find out more on our events page.
Support and Grants - we provide support for continuous professional development through our small grants scheme. You can find more information on our grants page.
How do I join?
Individuals - membership is open to all. The annual membership fee is £12 per year. The membership year runs from May 1st to April 30th.
Students and Volunteers - membership is free.
Payment - you can pay by cheque, payable to the Scottish Museums Federation, or via an on-line bank transfer. If you wish to wish to use a bank transfer, please email our Treasurer for details.
If you wish to join SMF or renew your membership, please download the relevant form from this page and send it to the Membership Officer by email or post at the address below.
