The Engine Shed, Stirling - Wednesday 25th April 2018
Please save the date, bookings will open soon
We would like to invite papers for our annual conference and also encourage responses from outwith the museum sector. Please share this with anyone you think may be interested.
We hope to share ideas and previous experiences of innovative ways of working. What has worked in the past? What other sectors can we learn from? Are there new approaches to aspects of museum work that we should try?
We welcome entries on a wide range of subjects, themes and also proposals appropriate for breakout sessions, workshops or panel discussions. We envisage up to 25 minutes for presentations and up to 40 minutes for other sessions. Some potential themes could be:
•When the rulebook doesn’t apply – getting creative and working with what you have
•Unexpected ideas – using your collections in ways no-one expects
•Learning from the best - innovation from technology sectors being used by museums
•Getting the word out – alternative ways of sharing your work
•New visitors - Year of Young People 2018, hard to reach visitors
•Beyond your walls – engaging audiences in new and unusual places
•Finding friends in unlikely places - working with non-museum partners
•Learning from other sectors – asking advice from those who know
Any and all responses to the theme are welcome – the more innovative or ‘out of the box’ the better.
To submit a proposal please send the Submission Form to email@example.com. Speakers do not need to be members of the Scottish Museums Federation.
Submissions from outside the museum sector are also welcome.
DEADLINE for proposals is Friday 16th February
