Established in the 1930s, we have members throughout Scotland from local authorities, universities, national and independent museums and galleries. Membership is open to all and we welcome curators, collections managers, registrars, museum assistants, volunteers, students, education staff and senior managers.

What are we about?

We serve the interests of all who work in museums and galleries in Scotland by being a stakeholder in a quality cultural sector. The Scottish Museums Federation encompasses wide-ranging views as a non-political membership body and aims to:

■ Provide networking opportunities in a friendly atmosphere
■ Be a dynamic forum for information and discussion of the issues that affect museums
  and galleries
■ Encourage creativity, enjoyment and personal development in the museum and gallery sector
